A native of Boston, Massachusetts, Barros attended his hometown Boston College before being selected16th overall in the 1989 NBA draft by the Seattle Supersonics, for whom he would play a total of four seasons.
The Massachusetts native played two seasons for the Sixers – making the All-Star team in 1995 – before he left the team in free agency for his hometown club.
Barros returned to Boston for that final season in 2003-04 after first rejoining the club as an assistant coach, retiring a second time as a player for the Celtics for a single game that season in 2004.
He averaged 10.1 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game as a Celtic.
A product of the University of Charleston, the Californian joined the team in its inaugural season of existence in the Basketball Association of America, playing 58 games for the team.
