Former Boston Celtics swingman James Posey, a member of the franchise’s 2008 NBA championship team, has been hired as an assistant coach with the University of Virginia women’s basketball program.
“I’m honored to have the opportunity to join the coaching staff of the women’s basketball team at the University of Virginia,” Posey told VirginiaSports.com. He averaged 8.6 points and 4.7 rebounds per game during his career, also winning the 2006 NBA title with the Heat.
Posey boasts prior bench experience as an assistant coach with the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2014-19. The Cavs won the 2016 NBA championship during Posey’s tenure there.
