CLEVELAND – Collin Sexton scored 29 points, Darius Garland added 25 and Cleveland’s young guards made big plays down the stretch as the Cavaliers ended a four-game losing streak with a 117-110 win over the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night.
Tatum scored 29 points and Brown 28 for the Celtics, who lost at home to the Utah Jazz on Tuesday and only had one lead – 2-0 – over the Cavs.
With Cleveland clinging to a four-point lead, Garland hit a runner in the lane, and after a miss by Brown, Cavs rookie Isaac Okoro threw down a vicious dunk and was fouled by Tatum.
After the Celtics trimmed Cleveland’s lead to eight points going into the final quarter, Tatum took control early in the fourth and scored 12 straight points to pull Boston within four.
Playing their best half since the All-Star break, the Cavs built a 21-point lead in the first half while taking advantage of Boston’s misfires.
